A Pinching Good Time in Sapphires!!

Last week was a very exciting one for the children in Sapphires class. Kobe had his sixth birthday recently and he got the most amazing present…… some land crabs! They live in a tank with no water and they eat practically anything. They are hermit crabs so they make their home in a shell and when they grow too big they move out and find a new one! The children were so fascinated by these amazing and unusual new pets, that his mum kindly offered to bring them in for a visit.

Scooby and Scrappy arrived in school on Thursday 28th June and Sapphires had forgotten they were expecting these nippy new visitors.  We all had a fabulous time having a really close look and we found Scrappy to be the friendliest whilst Scooby was a little more reserved.

Sapphires loved meeting Scooby and Scrappy, thank you so much to Kobe’s mum for bringing them to see us.

Camp Fire Fun and Games

On Saturday night, we dressed up warm and cosy to go and spend our evening around the camp fire.  Our PGL Leaders, H and Tom, got us off to a fine start with some ‘tall tales’ and singing games.  Then we had to pass the test of the clapping game.  Our initial over-confidence was quickly shot down as we realised our coordination skills had probably been burnt out by the SATs tests!  Mrs McMillan’s coordination was so far gone that she couldn’t even find the seat and ended up sprawled on the floor.  Unfortunately, our budding David Bailey’s weren’t quick enough with the camera and so this moment will only live on in the memories of those who were present!!  Once the laughter of the game had subsided, we got on to the serious business . . . . toasting the marshmallows.  Due to ridiculous Health and Safety rules (which are clearly made by people who haven’t been looking after 43 children constantly!) the children were not allowed to toast their own, or even any for us, so we had to wait on them hand and foot!!!  They were quick to put in their orders of: ‘lightly toasted please’, ‘I want mine nice and crispy’ and ‘ooo I would like a nice caramelly one’ and before we knew it they were munching away.  Another song led by H and we were then on our way back to the cabins for showers, bed and . . . SLEEP!!!!

Heatwave!!!

Dum diddy dum diddy . . .

Mr Pearson had clearly done this before!

I’d like a really burnt one please!!
