On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome Graeme and Lee from Dorset Music Service to our school. They showed KS1 and KS2 how to play a wide range of percussion instruments ranging from a little triangle to a huge marimba. Graeme and Lee played on instruments from our own music room and talked to us about playing each instrument in a variety of ways to make different sounds. We had no idea that there were so many different ways to play a tambourine!!
Graeme also showed us how to play the marimba. We were really impressed that he used 4 beaters at once – in our music lessons we only use one!
To finish off, Graeme and Lee performed a duet. Lee played the bass guitar and Graeme played our own drumkit. the children LOVED listening and joined in by clapping and singing.
Huge thanks to Graeme and Lee for a fantastic afternoon. The children thought you were inspiring, brilliant and talented, and the staff did too! Don’t forget Graeme is always happy to welcome new members to our Samba band, which rehearses after school on Tuesdays. See Kerrie in the front office for a letter.
