Lights Camera Action! Wow!

Wow! We did it! Key Stage Two should feel very proud that we put on such a fantastic show! Every child was involved from Year 3 to Year 6. The children were responsible for all sorts of behind the scenes jobs such as sound engineers, stage hands and prop designers. The cheer leaders from Year 3 were fantastic, the choir sang beautifully, the Samba Band went down a storm and the Year 5 dancers were simply brilliant!

Abbey Road here we come!

A massive well done must go to the cast who all learnt their lines and some were even brave enough to sing solos.

Year 5 dancers

Of course, none of this could happen without the help of the staff who gave up lots of time to rehearse, practise, make, mend, paint, sing, dance, sew…….

So thank you to Mrs Atkinson, Miss Gilbert, Mr Dunne, Mrs Cook for the acting and music, Mrs Merritt and Mrs Webb for the costumes, backdrops and props and finally to Mr Tubb for organising the microphones and lighting. We can’t wait for the next one now!

Facing Our Fears

The final day saw us all having to take a leap of faith and face our fears on the 40ft Abseiling Wall.  As we approached the wall, some of us started to get a few butterflies in our tummies and as we turned the corner and saw the huge wooden structure looming tall above our heads, many children were heard muttering the fateful words, “OMG!”  It really did look a threatening and challenging beast!  Some decided this was not the time to face their fears; some got harnessed up but didn’t make it to the ladder; some made it up the ladder but had to be rescued back down by Mr Pearson but the brave and adventurous succeeded in their bucket loads.  A few wobbly legs were seen shaking at the top as the children had to back themselves off the top of the tower and some children began their descent by trying to head butt their way through the wall!!!  There were a few ‘dangling spider’ techniques in action and some who fancied their chances as a future James Bond, jumping their way down the tower.  However, the overall abseiler extraordinaire was Aaron who managed to get from top to bottom in less than 5 seconds with a ‘free fall drop’ manoeuvre!!  Have a look at our heroic abseilers in the pictures below.
